Independent Corporate Investigations
& Security Consultancy
Independent, ground-up investigations built on three decades of professional law enforcement methodology
“Our Mission: Intelligence Without Risk”
When something goes wrong inside an organisation, fraud, misconduct, a security breach, a whistleblowing allegation, the quality of the investigation that follows determines everything: legal exposure, regulatory outcome, reputation, and the confidence of boards, insurers, and regulators in how the matter was handled.
Soteria Covert Solutions delivers independent, ground-up investigations built on three decades of professional law enforcement methodology. From the first evidential steps to a final report suitable for court, regulatory submission, or board review, we provide legally robust investigative packages that can withstand scrutiny at the highest level.
We are not a generalist investigations firm. We are former government detectives who understand, from direct operational experience, what it takes to build a case that holds.
Our Investigations capability
Whistleblowing & Misconduct Investigations
Whistleblowing allegations demand immediate, credible, and independent response. Mishandled whistleblowing investigations, whether through inadequate process, bias, or procedural failure, expose organisations to regulatory sanction, civil liability, and reputational harm.
Our operatives conduct sensitive investigations into workplace allegations with the procedural rigour and independence that both regulators and employment tribunals require.
Security Breach Investigations
When a breach occurs, whether a data leak, a physical security failure, an insider threat, or an act of sabotage, the immediate priority is understanding what happened, how, and by whom.
Soteria conducts rapid-response breach investigations, securing the evidential picture before it degrades, identifying responsible parties, and producing a report that supports both remediation and prosecution where appropriate.
Internal Corporate Investigations
When fraud, misconduct, policy breach, or financial irregularity is suspected inside an organisation, the integrity of the investigation is paramount. An investigation conducted by internal teams, or by a firm too close to the organisation, risks compromising evidence, creating bias challenges, and producing findings that cannot withstand external scrutiny.
Soteria conducts independent corporate investigations from a position of complete operational independence. We have no pre-existing relationship with the organisation, no stake in the outcome, and no conflict.
Witness Statements & Evidential Recovery
Gathering evidence correctly is a discipline in itself. Poorly taken witness statements, improperly handled digital evidence, or broken chains of custody can undermine an entire investigation.
Our operatives are trained to police standards in evidential recovery and witness engagement, ensuring that every piece of evidence gathered is preserved, documented, and presented in a form that will be admissible in court or accepted by a regulator.
Law Enforcement Liaison
For investigations that involve or may involve criminal conduct, effective liaison with the police, the Serious Fraud Office, the FCA, or other relevant authorities is essential, and is a specialist skill that most investigation providers lack. Our founder's background in the Metropolitan Police, including time with the Flying Squad and the Anti-Terrorist Branch, means we understand how law enforcement operates and how to engage with it effectively on behalf of clients.
We manage the law enforcement relationship, provide investigators with structured, evidentially sound packages, and support clients through the process of voluntary disclosure, cooperation, or parallel investigation, protecting their interests throughout.
Security Consultancy
Beyond reactive investigations, we provide strategic security consultancy to organisations seeking to understand and address their vulnerability to the threats Soteria specialises in detecting. This includes:
Threat and risk assessments for premises, events, and individuals
Security architecture reviews evaluating existing arrangements against current threat profiles
Covert security audits testing the effectiveness of physical and procedural security without alerting staff
Pre-employment and pre-partnership due diligence for sensitive roles and relationships
Post-incident reviews identifying systemic vulnerabilities exposed by a breach or incident
The Regulatory Environment Has Changed
Organisations operating in the UK face a significantly more demanding corporate liability landscape than they did even five years ago.
The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act came into full effect in September 2025, introducing a "failure to prevent fraud" offence that makes large organisations criminally liable if an associated person commits fraud for their benefit, regardless of whether the organisation knew it was happening. The burden is now on the organisation to demonstrate that reasonable prevention procedures were in place.
The Serious Fraud Office has simultaneously strengthened its corporate enforcement guidance, signalling that prompt, credible self-reporting and full cooperation, including independent internal investigations, are essential for organisations seeking to avoid prosecution or secure a Deferred Prosecution Agreement.
The FCA received over 1,100 whistleblowing reports in the 2024-25 period alone, with over half of all completed whistleblowing reviews resulting in direct regulatory action. Whistleblowing-related allegations, covering financial impropriety, misconduct, conflicts of interest, and misuse of confidential information, are now one of the primary triggers for external regulatory intervention.
In this environment, an independent, properly conducted investigation is not a discretionary response. For many organisations, it is the difference between demonstrating control and facing enforcement.
Legal and Governance Framework
All Soteria behaviour detection operations are conducted within clearly defined UK legal and governance frameworks. This is not incidental, it is a deliberate operational principle that protects our clients as much as it protects the individuals being observed.
Our operations are assessed for necessity and proportionality before deployment. Intelligence is gathered ethically and in accordance with applicable legislation including the Human Rights Act 1998, UK GDPR, and relevant counter-terrorism and public order frameworks. All operational activity is documented throughout, and our reporting is structured to be legally defensible from the outset.
Clients can be confident that the intelligence we gather will not create legal or reputational exposure, and that the methods used to gather it will withstand scrutiny if they are ever subject to challenge.
Who we work with
Law Firms & In-House Legal Teams
We are regularly instructed by solicitors and in-house counsel to conduct independent investigations that support litigation, regulatory response, or internal governance processes. Our reports are structured to the requirements of legal proceedings, and our operatives can provide expert evidence in support of our findings where required.
Boards, Audit Committees & Risk Functions
When a matter reaches board level, whether through a whistleblowing disclosure, an audit finding, or a regulatory enquiry, boards need confidence that the investigation is genuinely independent and professionally conducted. Soteria provides that assurance, operating entirely at arm's length from the organisation and reporting directly to those commissioning the investigation.
HR Directors & People Functions
Misconduct allegations, disciplinary matters, and sensitive workplace investigations require a level of procedural independence and professional rigour that internal HR teams often cannot provide, particularly in complex or high-profile cases. We conduct workplace investigations to the standard required by employment tribunals and the ACAS Code of Practice.
Insurers & Loss Adjusters
We support insurance investigations into suspected fraud, fraudulent claims, and complex loss events, providing the evidential foundation required to support claim denial, civil recovery, or referral to the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).
Private Clients & Family Offices
We investigate matters of a private nature, financial disputes, suspected misconduct by trusted individuals, asset recovery, and personal threat investigations, with the discretion and rigour that sensitive private matters demand.
